Sue,
We have gone back and forth with the naming of the pup. My son (who is 12) wanted to name her Shaggy. So he called her that for a while. My daughter (who is 10) insisted on Thora -girl. My daughter won. I started calling her Thora -Shag for the whole while so it didn?t look like I was taking sides.
We took her to the vet yesterday and her check up went great. The doctor said that I had a very healthy pup. Nice and lean (15lbs 3ozs.), and real healthy. The doctor said to keep her at three feedings for a couple more weeks. Then to go down to twice a day feedings.
Her potty training is going very well. When I get in from work at 9 a.m. I take her for a walk around the block, sometimes she just wants to sit on the lawn instead of walking. Oh Sue, the vet says to start crate training her. I cannot do this!!!!!!! She is so good. She stays in our family room. We puppy-proofed the whole room. We hid all electrical cords and anything else that may catch her eye and that she shouldn?t have. She says that will help when she goes to be fixed, (she?ll be use to it). Sorry, I just can?t. We don?t have a huge family room, it?s small and comfortable, so I look at it like it?s one big crate. When we come in she is either laying on the sofa (the family room one isn?t our good one) or laying on the rocker.
I hate to have to lie to the vet and say that I am crate training her when I?m not but I don?t want her to think that I am not listening to her or following her advice. When I was little my parents never even owned a crate. I don?t
think there was crates in those days. Our dog turned out great.
