Hi Sue,
Well, it's been over a week since Lilli arrived, so I thought a progress report was in order. She had her first vet appointment--she passed with flying colors. Our vet was quite surprised when I told him about purchasing her over the Internet. Your emails and website do a great job to instill confidence in the quality of your puppies. If any future adoptive parents are unsure, please feel free to use us as a reference.
It did take Lilli a couple of hours to adjust from her journey when she first arrived. She wouldn't even walk around until 12:30 a.m. that night--she finally went out, ate and drank. She adjusted pretty quickly, though. We also chose not to crate train her and don't have any problems with her at night--she sleeps with our girls in their room. They have been taking turns sleeping on a blow up bed on the floor with her. They were afraid that she would miss her mom and the company of the other puppies.
We finally got some snow here in the Chicago area last week, much to Lilli's delight. She loves to be outside--I even find myself out there with her, and I am usually quite the hermit when it is cold and snowy. We live next to a farm field, and I have been taking her on little excursions (when it is sunny--which we have had quite a few sunny days--very un-Chicagolike weather). We have been experiencing the usually puppy habits, but she has a great disposition. I am trying to get the girls to be more firm with Lilli and not run away from her like they are playing when she is doing something they do not like.
Our house is very hard to section off, other than the second floor, so potty training is a little more challenging. Luckily, I am home with her during the day, so she will hopefully catch on quickly. She is just so adorable and quite affectionate.
I will send some pictures when you get your ftp site up. I really enjoyed reading all the emails from the other adoptive families--especially the different tips on puppy behavior.
I do have one question--will the black coloring she has stay that way, or will it lighten to a gray color?
Thanks again, Sue.
