Hello Sue,
Your email stuck up some memories of the loss of
our 1st OES. Thought you might enjoy the attached recent holiday picture
of our Mr Papagiorgio.
Our Mr Papagiorgio travels very well, he goes right to the car door when ever he
senses we are going anywhere. Although I think it is more fear of
being left behind than enjoyment of driving. Our old OES was awful about
swallowing things (and we didn't leave much around for him to swallow),
fortunately he regurgitated anything that didn't belong in his stomach. Mr
Papagiorgio is a world better, I don't think he swallows anything but
food. And he is so good with the kids, he adjusts his play level to their
smaller sizes.
On the serious side, in September, I noticed a lump on the outside of Mr
Papagiorgio's left front leg, about 2 or 3 " up from what would be the
elbow of his upper arm. The lump is about 3/4" wide by about 3/8"
thick. I brought Mr Papagiorgio to the vet who used a syringe to take a sample
of the fluid in the lump and then examined the fluid in the lab. The vet said
the fluid was not cancerous but was fat cells. Have you had any
experience with lumps like this? Is it more of a concern than the vet indicated?
I had noticed a larger lump on our old OES's chest one Spring, a different Vet
took a sample which was also diagnosed as fat cells, but
then the following Fall, he started getting sick and it turned out he had cancer
of the liver.
I don't think the two events in our old OES were related but they left me
nervous and I thought your experience might provide some advice.
Thanks,
Ray

Hi Sue
I've been meaning to write also. Simpson will be celebrating his 2nd
birthday on the 26th. I can't believe we have had him 2 years.
Although, still mischievous. He is a happy boy. He is very small.
My husband weighed him the other day he just hit 71 a little guy for an old
english. But I say thank God. He is so in your face with his whole
body that if I had another 20 pounds coming at me. I know for sure we'd be
knocked down by accident. He absolutely does not know personal space.
When he gets on the couch with us he sits almost on top of us. I know he
likes to feel us with him. He is
very smart. We're still working on his barking and biting. Not
really biting, more he wants your hand somewhere. Whether it's to be pet
or to go somewhere with him. He is still awful in the car. He doesn't
settle down he whines and barks. But that too is better. We take him for a lot
of short rides so he doesn't think he is going to the vets. Seeing that he
has spent quite sometime there. Between eating underwear and socks he has had 1
sugary and 2 endoscopies and 1 forced vomiting. And believe me we are
soooo careful about putting these items away. He is just sooo fast.
Although it's been a few months since any of these have happened and the vet
showed us how to induce vomiting with hydrogen peroxide. He seems to be in
a grace period. Thank goodness. The vet said once a dog eats these
items he always will. He is our joy though. We love his noise and
affection. He makes everyone feel loved. I call him "All
Love." He has been the craziness in our house since our daughter was killed
by a drunk driver. I call Simpson our last gift from Kim. Because
she was the one who begged and begged for a new puppy. If he didn't keep
sending us to the vets with his underwear thing. I could have talked my
husband into another. But we are just waiting for him to grow a little
more out of his puppy stage. Although, I'm not sure he will. But we
thank god for him every day. He makes us laugh at least once a day.
By the way he looks at us or just the way he plays.
Thanks Again
Kathie Holland
