Hi Sue,
I will truly miss all the emails and updates I have received from you. I can not thank you enough for everything you have sent, the work you have done on your web site and mostly bringing OES into this world in such a fine way.
I purchased one of your pups in September 2000. This pup was dropped off to us in Calgary by Hans on his way to Victoria. Anyway we adore our dog Samson he is a wonderful addition to our family.
I have included a couple of updated pictures of our very handsome boy. Best advise I could offer to anyone who wants one of these dogs: Daily walks and or runs. Not only do they love walks and need the exercise but it keeps there spirits up and there energy level content (especially the younger dogs).
We noticed to the difference in his barks, he has different bark tones. The excited one...when we are about to go for walks...this bark is LOUD. The bark to ask to go outside to relieve himself (bathroom bark) ...this bark is soft and quiet as if to politely ask. (Also he will come right up to you and look you in the eyes and politely bark.) I have taught him somewhat successfully to bark softly, he good if he is doing this for a milk bone or if he is just barking - depending on his excitement level I can request he bark softly and sometimes he will or at least try to. Samson was very easy to train he is very smart. When we first got him we thought we must have gotten the smartest dog, he instantly caught onto his name and routine.
The one picture is of him laying at one of his favorite spots - he can keep guard by looking out the window. The other is a picture of him just after I clipped his bangs, so we could see his eyes. We keep clipped right down in the summer and let his hair grow out for the winter. In the summer he goes to a dog salon ... but in the winter we trim him ourselves. He is so good about holding still for a hair cut, nail cut, ear drops or anything you need him to do.
Once again THANK YOU.
