| Hi Sue;
The pups are gorgeous! I was privileged enough to hold a 3 day old Rotweiller puppy on Boxing Day. Jim's cousin raises them. It was so cute and snugly, but, not as cute or loveable as our Sheepdogs!
Maggie and Daisy Mae are doing fine. Maggie is a yippy, needy, and oh so affectionate girl. She is by far the happiest creature Jim and I have ever met. She makes us laugh a lot, which is good. Daisy is still sweet and by far the most laid back and laziest dog anyone has ever seen. She is starting to hold her ground with Maggie, who likes to be a real bossy boots. Having two sisters myself, I can honestly say that these two are REAL SISTERS! Right down to being very affectionate to one another one moment and then 'don't look at me' the next moment. The dogs have very different personalities, but all the same good qualities which we like in the breed.
Shortly after we moved to Calgary in July 2000, Daisy has had a dry skin condition around her eyes. We finally started treating it the same as my dry skin dermatitis, which I developed this fall. Imagine, using polysporin, vaseline and nivea cream on a dog. But hey, it works and has none of the nasty side affects of all the expensive drugs the vets prescribed for her since we moved to Calgary 18 months ago. Dry skin dermatitis is common among people in Alberta, especially when they have moved here from a moist climate. I figure that if Nivea cream and vaseline are safe to use around my eyes, they would be safe to use around Daisy's eyes as well. Maggie remains effervescent and trouble free health wise, but makes up for it as she is often trouble just looking for a place to happen. But, she is settling down and has a face and a wiggling bottom that just demands to be loved. Daisy doesn't wag her bottom very often, but rather curls herself into a smile. Much like one of the dogs on your farm. They both like to give little nibble-horsey bites as signs of affection. This can cause a few yelps and screams from the unsuspecting recipients.
Well, must run. The pups are BEAUTIFUL!
Happy New Year,
Love,
Jim, Laurie, Daisy Mae and Maggie Mae

Hello Sue, Hans and Family;
Just thought I'd let you know how Daisy Mae and Maggie Mae are getting along. Maggie is definitely the dominant of the pair, but I think that once the puppieness is out of Maggie, Daisy just may strut her stuff. But, then as I tell people, Maggie is a dog, Daisy is an old lady named Phyllis. ha ha The 2 are as different as night in day in personalities, yet both are very good with children and babies.
Both of my girls love to cuddle and Maggie especially demands attention and gets jealous if it is Daisy being cuddled and not her. Daisy is sparse on Woofs, but Maggie is a real Yapper. "No Bark" is a constant command for Maggie. But, then how can you get too angry at Mrs. Wigglesbottom -- Maggie's bottom is constantly wiggling. She is the happiest little critter I have ever met.
The two of them have settled in quite nicely after about a 4 to 6 week adjustment period, for Daisy, Maggie settled in right away. She was just glad to be home! Both dogs greet each other every morning and play quite well together. The tussles are getting fewer and farther between. But, having sisters myself, I know that tussles are a fact of life.
Hope all is well with you and yours.
Take Care,
Laurie
