Hi Sue

I am happy to report that Chelsea is thriving.  She is a big girl- about 85 lbs and that seems to be her ideal weight since her frame is big. She likes carrots and apples- for that matter just about anything.  Chelsea is generally happy except when she has to get groomed.  Never liked it, never will for some reason.  She has calmed down a lot since we first brought her home.  She was and still is, a bit, skittish, jumping at the least little sound or movement.  We thought that she could benefit from a friend so a year ago we "rescued" another OES right here in Calgary.  The puppy has been instrumental in calming Chelsea and relieving some of her anxiety.  In fact, when Oppie( the new one) was at the groomers recently, Chelsea didn't even eat- a unique experience.

Chelsea likes to take long walks through Fish Creek Park- a provincial park a block from our home; sleep- on her chair, on her chesterfield, on the mat, next to the piano; on the deck; eat and play with Oppie. Last summer she discovered she liked going on the boat. In May we leave for Alaska in an RV with both dogs. We've made some trial runs and the dogs like the idea. When we're not driving, the dogs are outside under the canopy or exploring- on long lead- their new surroundings.

Chelsea likes to meet new people but is sometimes overly enthusiastic.  She doesn't realize that not everyone likes to be "slimed".  She also hasn't quite figured out that she is not a "lap dog".  We continue to work on socialization and manners.

We do enjoy Chelsea and hope she is around us for a very long time.  As it is now, she is only 3 1/2.

Sincerely,

Anne and Ron

Sue

Here's the other photo of Chelsea.  Even though she prefers to be indoors, she nevertheless manages to find dirt everywhere.  I think that's typical of the breed, as Chelsea's companion is currently assigned a construction project which will ultimately end up as a tunnel to the neighbours' yard. Chelsea prefers to supervise and advise the neighborhood of the status of the project.
