Ambrosious is doing wonderfully! He has adjusted very well and Shadow and he are inseparable. They like to go for walks together on the tandem leash. Shadow is faster than all of us so mostly she is yipping at ambrosius to go faster and he, in turn, tries to pull me along. Luckily I'm still bigger than both of them and can keep them in check. I'm teaching Ambrosious proper leash ettiquette so that when he is much bigger, I won't be dragged down the street by two very run-happy dogs.
Nicholas loves his new "baby". He likes to tickle Ambrosious and lay his head down on Ambrosious' tummy for a quick nap in the middle of playtime. Ambrosious still sleeps in with my husband and I and Shadow in our bedroom at night, but both Ambrosius and Nicholas have expressed the desire to sleep with each other in Nicholas' room. I dare say, in a couple of years when they are both older I'll have to hand over Ambrosious' ownership papers to Nicholas and just be done with it. (So much for my finally having a dog of my very own. Sigh)
Ambrosious will be doing his formal basic training in a couple of weeks. I've already got the sit, laydown, stay, come and go potty ingrained into his head but we'll polish him up in basic training so that we can do some agility in the fall. Shadow is going for a brush up on her basic training skills as well. It seems that she thinks that just because Ambrosious didn't know the rules, she could get away with a few lapses in her own obedience. We soon got that out of her head but I think a little extra study can't possibly hurt.
I have attached some pictures of Ambrosious for you.
